Little Wing Faerie Art is a one artist operation. I began making wings and costumes for myself in 1999 and over the years I have developed my skills. My passion for folklore and the beauty of the natural world keeps my creative fire lit.
While I have always had an obsession with faeries, I got my start as a professional artist costuming for summer festivals on the West Coast of the United States. I have been known to have particular tastes, so I honed my skills while I attempted each year to make myself the best pair of faerie wings. As my techniques improved, I was requested repeatedly to make wings to sell.
Crafting faerie wings lead to my exploration of creating headdress, hats, and flower lights of all sizes. My influences come mostly from turn-of-the-century fantasy illustrations, the natural world, and Art Nouveau. In addition to my work with textile sculpture, I also love to make faerie art dolls and am studying stop motion animation.
I consider it a great gift to be paid for what I love to do, but I would make my creations regardless. I am thankful to live in a time and place that fills me with inspiration.
